BUIES CREEK – The combination of
Brian Strange and
Brian DuRoff lifted the Elon baseball team (15-22, 7-12 CAA) to a 10-6 win over Campbell (24-13, 16-3 CAA) Friday night.
Strange extended his quality start streak to four consecutive CAA games. Strange went six innings, allowed just one run, and struck out six batters. Strange limited the CAA's top offense to six hits, with just one extra-base hit.
DuRoff added to his impressive run of games with a three extra-base hit night. DuRoff homered, doubled twice and drove in three runs against the Camels.
Jose Mariano plated three runs on a third inning three-run home run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- For the fourth time in the last five games against the Camels, Elon struck first. Jackson Alford led off the game with a double and scored on a wild pitch. Jared Hall came around to score on a fielding error later in the first inning.
- After two clean frames from Strange, Elon added more. An RBI double from DuRoff gave the Phoenix a three-run advantage. With two runners on, Mariano lifted a ball over the left center field fence to give the Phoenix a 6-0 lead.
- In the fourth, Elon added a 7th run on another DuRoff RBI double.
- Campbell scratched a run across on an infield single in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to six.
- The Phoenix responded right back with a run in the sixth. An RBI single from Gar Hindle extended the lead back to seven.
- DuRoff capped his night in the eighth with a solo home run to give the Phoenix a 9-1 lead.
- Jake Hajdu continued his hot streak at Jim Perry Stadium with an RBI single in the ninth.
- The Camels added five runs in the ninth to decrease Elon's margin of victory.

- Brian DuRoff continues to be one of the best hitters in college baseball since the start of April. DuRoff doubled twice and homered on Friday to bring his April extra-base hit tally to 11. DuRoff is batting .472 (17-for-36) since the start of the month.
- Jared Hall finished two-for-three at the plate with a pair of singles and three runs scored.
- Jose Mariano gave the Phoenix a blast in the third inning with a three-run shot. The home run was his third of the season.
- Jackson Alford led off the game with a double and scored twice in the win.
- Jake Hajdu and Gar Hindle both added RBI singles.
- Brian Strange extended his quality start streak to four on Saturday. Strange struck out six Camels and lowered his season ERA to 3.86.
- Elon has scored multiple, first inning runs in four of the last five meetings against Campell.

- The Phoenix takes game one of a three game series in Buies Creek for the second straight season.
