BUIES CREEK – Despite a
Tommy Mitchell quality start and a
Jackson Alford lead off home run, the Elon baseball team (15-23, 7-13 CAA) dropped game two to Campbell (25-13, 17-3 CAA) Saturday afternoon.
Mitchell fired the first quality start of his young Elon career on Saturday. Mitchell went six innings and allowed just two earned runs.
Alford led off the game with a solo home run and ended the game with a pair of hits.
Jake Hajdu added his 4
th multi-hit performance in six career games against Campbell.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Elon jumped on Campbell early when Alford took the second pitch of the game out of Jim Perry Stadium.
- Campbell responded in the bottom half of the first with a lone run. With already one run across, Mitchell limited the damage and stranded the bases loaded with three straight outs.
- The Camels took the lead in the bottom of the second on a solo home run.
- Both pitchers settled in after the second inning with each of them firing four straight zeros on the scoreboard.
- Campbell struck hard in the seventh with five unearned runs to put the game away.
