RICHMOND, Va. – Elon junior Mariana Reding was selected as the Most Outstanding Player of the 2026 CAA Women's Tennis Championship on Friday after a vote by the participating teams' head coaches.
Reding helped lead the Phoenix to its second straight CAA title, going 4-0 across doubles and singles over the weekend. In Saturday's semifinal against Drexel, Reding clinched the doubles point for Elon alongside partner
Simone Bergeron, with the pair winning 6-4 at the No. 1 spot against Adva Dabah and Lorie Lemongo. Reding then delivered the decisive point in singles for the Phoenix, defeating Dabah 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot to cap off a 4-0 sweep.
Against William & Mary in Sunday's championship match, Reding again teamed up with Bergeron for a win at No. 1 doubles, this time beating Sia Chaudry and Francesca Davis 6-2 to help the Phoenix take the opening point. Reding then came through a back-and-forth three-set battle in singles on Court 3 against Tilda Larsson, coming from 2-4 down in a final set to win 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 and give Elon a crucial third point in an eventual 4-3 victory over the Tribe.
Reding was the only player to go 4-0 in the CAA Women's Tennis Championship. The junior is now 10-2 across doubles and singles in her CAA Tournament career, including a 7-1 mark during Elon's two championship runs.
Reding and the Phoenix await their NCAA Championship destination, as Elon will return to the tournament for the second straight season. The NCAA Women's Tennis Selection show is scheduled for Monday at 4:30 p.m. and will air on NCAA.com.
