ELON – The Elon women's tennis team (13-4) wraps up its regular season Saturday with a 10 a.m. match against Coastal Carolina (13-4) at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
The match will be Elon's Senior Day, which will honor seniors Madison Cordisco and Helen Sarikulaya in a pre-match ceremony beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m.

The Matchup
- Saturday will be just the third meeting between Elon and Coastal Carolina, with the Chanticleers taking the previous two.
- Coastal Carolina defeated Elon last season, 5-2, in Conway, South Carolina. The only other meeting between the teams came in 2000.
About The Phoenix
- Elon is 13-4 this season with wins in six of its last seven matches, including a crucial road CAA win against William & Mary on April 3.
- Simone Bergeron is back for her junior season after a breakout campaign last spring that saw her take home CAA Women's Tennis Player of the Year. Bergeron has 20 wins across doubles and singles this spring after earning All-CAA First Team recognition in both last season.
- Bergeron's primary doubles partner this season has been Mariana Reding, who also earned First Team All-CAA honors in doubles a season ago. Reding, also a junior, is second on the Phoenix with 23 combined wins this spring.
- After a strong freshman campaign that saw her secure All-CAA Second Team recognition, Lisa Kranec has been one of Elon's top contributors this spring, with 12 doubles victories and seven singles wins.
- Also back for the Phoenix is senior Madison Cordisco, who finished second on the team last season with 17 singles triumphs. She went 14-4 at the No. 5 position.
- Senior Helen Sarikulaya also received All-CAA recognition in both singles (Third Team) and doubles (Second Team) last spring.
- Elon welcomes three newcomers this season – Cornelia Kack, Alexis Nyborg and Nathalie Marinovitch.
- Kack joined the Phoenix after earning All-CAA Third Team honors in doubles last season as a freshman at Delaware and leads the Phoenix with 24 total wins this spring. Nyborg came to Elon following two successful seasons at UNC Asheville, where she earned All-Big South First Team honors in singles in 2025. The junior is tied for third on the Phoenix with 10 singles wins this spring.
- Marinovitch, a native of Cochabamba, Bolivia, is Elon's lone freshman.
- Elon won its first ever CAA championship last spring, winning the CAA Tournament at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center with a victory over three-time defending champion William & Mary in the final.
- The Phoenix earned the CAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and faced No. 10 Tennessee in the opening round. Elon finished the season with a 19-6 overall record, which included a 15-2 mark at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
- Elon is led by reigning CAA Coach of the Year Elizabeth Anderson, who is in her 22nd season leading the Phoenix. She is joined by first-year assistant coach Allie Gretkowski, who played college tennis at South Carolina and Louisville.
Senior Spotlight
- Elon will honor seniors Cordisco and Sarikulaya before Saturday's match. Both players helped the Phoenix win its first ever CAA Tournament title last spring.
- Cordisco has won 67 career dual matches across doubles and singles and earned All-CAA honors in doubles in 2023. She has won three conference weekly awards, including Player of the Week a season ago.
- Sarikulaya has accrued 63 combined dual wins and is a two-time All-CAA selection, with one each in doubles and singles. She has also won three weekly CAA awards and partnered Miray Konar to become the first Elon doubles team to make the ITA Carolina Regionals semifinals in 2024.
- Cordisco and Sarikulaya have been a part of 62 team victories during their three-plus seasons with the Phoenix. Elon has won at least one CAA Tournament match in each of their first three seasons.
Last Time Out
- Elon swept UNCG on the road Wednesday night, winning 5-0 in Greensboro in its final away match of the regular season.
- The Phoenix won on all three doubles courts to take the opening point of the match.
- Bergeron and Reding won 6-4 at the top spot for their 10th victory together this spring. Cordisco and Nyborg clinched the point with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot, with Kack and Kranec following a 6-4 victory of their own.
- In singles, Elon got victories from Nyborg, Kack, Bergeron and Cordisco to complete the sweep.
- It was Elon's seventh sweep of the season in its 13 victories.
- Elon finishes the regular season with a 4-3 record in road matches. This is the first time the Phoenix has finished the regular season with a winning away record since 2021.
Win In Williamsburg
- Elon picked up its first ever road victory against William & Mary on April 3, defeating the Tribe 4-3 at the Mackesy Tennis Center.
- The Phoenix won last year's CAA championship rematch for its first win against the Tribe in Williamsburg in its sixth try.
- Nyborg delivered the deciding point at No. 4 singles, defeating Mira Kernagis in a third-set tiebreak to put Elon ahead 4-2.
- Kack and Reding also picked up singles points for the singles after Elon took the doubles point.
- Bergeron and Reding won at No. 1 doubles to set up the clinching win by Kack and Kranec, as Elon took a crucial 1-0 lead.
- Elon is now 3-0 against CAA opponents this season with wins over North Carolina A&T, College of Charleston and William & Mary. The Charleston and William & Mary victories both came on the road.
- For the first time in the head-to-head, Elon has won three straight matches against the Tribe.
- This was Elon's first victory to come by a 4-3 scoreline this season. The last time the Phoenix won 4-3 was against William & Mary last year in the regular season.
Phoenix In The Rankings
- Elon was ranked three straight weeks in the ITA team poll earlier this season.
- The Phoenix entered the rankings on March 3 at No. 58, the highest ranking in Elon's Division I history, beating the previous best mark of No. 59 from the poll on March 5, 2013. Elon was then ranked in the March 10, March 17 and March 24 editions of the rankings.
- Elon's ranking on March 3 was its first since Jan. 6, 2015, when the Phoenix held the 75th and final spot in the standings.
- Elon is the only CAA team to be ranked this season. All three of Elon's losses this season have come against teams that have been ranked in the top 60 at some point this season.
Mar-velous
- Reding is second to Kack on the Phoenix with 23 victories across singles and doubles this spring.
- The junior is on a 10-match singles winning streak, with nine of the 10 victories coming in straight sets.
- Reding's last completed match was a 6-1, 6-3 victory over William & Mary's Tilda Larsson on April 3. The junior is 3-0 this season against CAA opponents.
- Reding has won a 6-1 singles set in each of her last seven victories. The last time she did not win a set 6-1 in a finished match was March 1 against Davidson.
- Reding's 13 singles victories are the most on the Phoenix, with all the wins coming at the No. 3 spot.
- Reding has won 13 of her last 14 singles matches and 26 of her last 29 singles sets in finished matches. Her only loss in that stretch came against No. 3 North Carolina.
- Reding's lone two singles losses this season are to ranked opponents (Charlotte and North Carolina).
- In doubles, Reding is 10-5 at the No. 1 spot alongside Bergeron. Their win against UNCG on Wednesday secured Reding's third straight season with double-digit wins in doubles.
- Reding was named CAA Player of the Week on March 3 after going 6-0 overall in Elon's sweeps against North Carolina A&T, Wofford and Davidson.
- The CAA Player of the Week nod was the second of Reding's career, as she previously received the honor on Jan. 28, 2025.
- Reding is up to 41 career dual singles wins and is Elon's active singles win leader.
Kack Attack
- Kack's Elon career is off to a prolific start, as the sophomore passed Reding for the team lead in total victories (24) with wins in doubles and singles Wednesday.
- Kack made her No. 1 singles debut for Elon against Furman on March 14, winning in three sets to clinch the victory for the Phoenix. The sophomore has since clinched Elon's wins against UConn and College of Charleston with victories at the No. 1 position.
- Kack has won nine of her last 10 completed singles matches. Her only loss in that span came against No. 63 Old Dominion.
- The sophomore has been ruthless in singles, winning eight sets by either a 6-1 or 6-0 scoreline.
- Like Reding, Kack's only singles losses this season have come against Charlotte, North Carolina, and Old Dominion, all ranked opponents.
- Prior to the Furman match, Kack played the No. 2 spot, winning seven times.
- Kack has also formed one of Elon's most reliable doubles pairings alongside Kranec, with the duo leading the Phoenix in doubles wins this spring (12).
- Kack earned CAA Co-Player of the Week honors on Feb. 17 after a dominant stretch in which she posted multiple singles and doubles wins for the Phoenix.
- Against No. 3 North Carolina on Feb. 17, Kack took a set off Oby Kajuru, the No. 7-ranked player in the ITA standings, pushing the nationally ranked Tar Heel to three sets at the No. 2 singles position.
Super Simone
- Last season, Bergeron became the first Elon player to win both CAA Player of the Year and CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player.
- She picked up 20 doubles victories in her sophomore campaign, tied for the third most in a season by an Elon player.
- All 12 of Bergeron's singles victories last spring came at the No. 1 position, which included the CAA title clinching win against William & Mary.
- Bergeron has compiled 74 dual wins across singles and doubles in her first three campaigns with the Phoenix. She won at least 12 matches in both singles and doubles in each of her first two seasons.
- This fall, Bergeron was selected as the CAA's singles representative at ITA Conference Masters. She was the first Elon player to compete at the event.
- Bergeron has 20 victories this spring, with 10 coming at No. 1 doubles alongside Reding. Their victory against UNCG on Wednesday secured Bergeron's third straight season with 10-plus dual doubles wins.
- Bergeron has also won five of her last six completed singles matches, with all five of the wins coming in straight sets. After playing the No. 1 spot to start the season, Bergeron recently moved to No. 2 singles and is 5-1 playing that court.
- The junior picked up a ranked singles win on April 4 with a 7-6 (5), 3-0 victory over Old Dominion's Victoria Matasova, the No. 117 player in the ITA singles rankings.
- Against Queens on March 21, Bergeron pitched a perfect day across doubles and singles, going 18-0 in total games. After sweeping her doubles match with Reding, she won her singles match 6-0, 6-0, her first time blanking an opponent in singles since the 2024 CAA Tournament against Monmouth.
Big Lex
- In her debut campaign with the Phoenix, Nyborg has become a reliable contributor in both doubles and singles.
- Nyborg is tied for third on the Phoenix with 10 singles wins this spring and has won four of her last five matches.
- On Tuesday, Nyborg was tabbed as the CAA Player of the Week following her clinching win against William & Mary on April 3.
- The junior has played the Nos. 4 and 5 singles spots, with each of her last six appearances coming at the No. 4 position.
- Eight of her 10 singles victories have come in straight sets and two of her three defeats this season have come against teams that have been ranked this season.
- Nyborg joined Elon's doubles lineup against North Carolina A&T on Feb. 25 and has appeared at the No. 2 spot in every match since, picking up five wins with Cordisco and Marinovitch.
- The Nyborg and Cordisco duo is 4-3 this season, with wins against the Aggies, South Carolina State, Queens and UNCG.
- Nyborg also clinched the doubles point for the Phoenix against Furman alongside Marinovitch, as the tandem of Elon newcomers rallied from a break down to win 7-5 at the No. 2 spot on March 14.
Cordisco, Kranec Contributing
- Kranec has formed half of Elon's winningest doubles pairing this spring alongside Kack.
- The duo leads the Phoenix with 12 victories, all coming at the No. 3 spot. The duo clinched the doubles point in Elon's 4-3 win against William & Mary on April 3.
- Kranec has added seven singles victories this spring, including a three-set win against College of Charleston on March 24.
- The victory against the Cougars was Kranec's first this season to come in a deciding set.
- Kranec pushed Thea Rabman of North Carolina to a third set on Feb. 17 after winning the first set off her ranked Tar Heel opponent in a tiebreak.
- Cordisco has been a key piece of Elon's doubles lineup this season, winning six matches.
- Cordisco has won in doubles with both Nyborg and Sarikulaya this season. The senior is 4-3 playing the No. 2 spot alongside Nyborg.
- Cordisco also has five singles victories this season, including a crucial victory at the No. 6 spot that helped the Phoenix win at Charleston. She won her third set 6-1 against Riley Trinkle to move Elon ahead 3-2 in the match.
Nat Debuts
- Marinovitch made her dual debut for the Phoenix on Feb. 25 against North Carolina A&T, playing the No. 6 singles spot.
- The freshman came through a tight match against the Aggies, defeating Flavia Villegas for her first career dual victory.
- Marinovitch was back in the lineup on Feb. 28 against Wofford, again at the No. 6 position. She clinched the match for the Phoenix with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Marie Henriksen.
- Marinovitch has partnered Nyborg in doubles in three of Elon's last four matches. The duo picked up their first win together on March 14 at Furman, clinching the doubles point for the Phoenix with a 7-5 win at the No. 2 spot.
- Marinovitch has played either singles or doubles in eight of the last 11 matches, including April 4 at No. 63 Old Dominion. The freshman played the No. 6 singles spot against the Monarchs.
Doubles Success
- Elon has won the doubles point in nine of the last 12 matches and in 11 of its 13 victories this season.
- On March 21, Elon had a perfect doubles point against Queens, as the Phoenix won all three matches 6-0 for the first time since 2019.
- Kack and Kranec lead the Phoenix with 12 wins at the No. 3 spot, including the win that clinched the doubles point for Elon against William & Mary on April 3.
- Bergeron and Reding have won eight of their last 11 completed matches together and are second on the team with 10 victories this spring at the No. 1 spot. They also helped Elon secure the doubles point against the Tribe with a victory at the top position.
- Of the seven Elon doubles pairs to play together this spring, four have delivered victories.
- Elon has won two of its last three matches after dropping the doubles point, as the Phoenix defeated both UConn and Charleston by matching 5-2 scores.
- Elon is 17-3 in doubles matches contested at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center this season, only taking losses against South Alabama and UConn.
- Including matches from the fall season, Elon is 60-25 in completed doubles matches in the 2025-26 campaign.
Career Milestones
- Several Phoenix are moving up Elon's all-time ranks in career doubles wins.
- With her 10 doubles victories this spring, Bergeron is up to 43 career wins. The junior became the 14th Phoenix to reach 40 career dual doubles victories earlier this season and is just one behind Suzanne Zenoni for the 13th most in program history.
- Reding is not far behind her doubles partner, as she recently cracked the top 15 in career doubles wins with the Phoenix, reaching 41 with her win over William & Mary.
- Cordisco is also making a move up the doubles rankings, as the senior is up to 36 career victories.
- With her 13 singles wins this season, Reding also has 41 career wins in singles. She is just two victories away from entering the top 15 in Elon's program history.
The Anderson Era
- Head coach Elizabeth Anderson is in her 22nd season leading the maroon and gold.
- Anderson has turned Elon into a consistent winner. Under her guidance, the Phoenix has posted 19 consecutive winning seasons, all of which have included double-digit victories.
- Since joining the CAA in the 2014-15 season, Elon has won at least one match in all 10 of its CAA Tournament appearances. Anderson led the program to the CAA championship match for the first time in 2022 and its first CAA title in 2025 to earn an NCAA Tournament bid.
- In Elon's final season in the Southern Conference, Anderson led the maroon and gold to the program's first NCAA Tournament berth in 2013. The Phoenix won its first Southern Conference championship that season to qualify.
- Since taking over as head coach in 2005, Anderson has tallied 321 victories at Elon. Her winning percentage is 63% in 513 career matches.
- Anderson was named CAA Coach of the Year in 2025, the second time in her career she earned the honor.
- Elon has also been a strong performer in the classroom during Anderson's tenure. The program has earned All-ITA Academic Team honors in 20 consecutive seasons.
Scouting Coastal Carolina
- The Chanticleers are 13-4 this season and are 5-2 in road matches.
- Coastal Carolina is coming off a 4-0 victory against CAA opponent College of Charleston on Wednesday.
- The Chanticleers have also defeated Campbell twice and UNCW this season and enter Saturday with a 4-0 record against CAA teams.
- Diana Zuba leads Coastal with 13 singles wins this spring. She is 7-2 at the No. 1 spot and 6-2 playing the No. 2 spot.
- Brunelle Kouam has added four victories at the top singles spot and six more playing the No. 2 position.
- Aida Mitrache (13) and Sarah Clark (10) have also reached double-digit singles wins this spring.
- Coastal has only deployed five different doubles pairings this season. Mitrache and Brooke Rogers lead the team with 12 victories, 10 of which have come at the No. 2 spot.
- Kouam and Francisca Launes have nine wins playing the top doubles position. Clark and Zuba are 7-1 playing the No. 3 spot this season.
- Coastal Carolina is led by head coach Catherine Hewitt, who is in her 15th season leading the Chanticleers.
