Phoenix Signs Two Transfers

Elon Adds Lisa Dierick, Sonja Rooth For 2026-27

ELON – The Elon women's tennis team announced the addition of a pair of transfers to its 2026-27 roster Thursday, with Lisa Dierick and Sonja Rooth joining the Phoenix.

Dierick comes to Elon from Rider, where she led the Broncos with 12 singles victories in her freshman campaign this spring. Eight of the wins came at the top singles spot to help her earn Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year. The Belgium native also paced the Broncos with seven doubles victories and became the first major conference award winner in Rider's history.

Rooth played two seasons at Stephen F. Austin, helping the Lumberjacks win back-to-back Southland Conference titles. Rooth paced Stephen F. Austin with 11 dual victories playing the Nos. 1-3 spots and added seven wins in doubles. A Sweden native, Rooth also led the Lumberjacks as a freshman in 2025 with 18 singles victories to go along with a 14-7 dual doubles record.

The two transfers will join freshmen Alexandria Warsing and Iga Piotrowska as newcomers to the Phoenix next season. Elon is coming off back-to-back CAA championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
