ELON – The Elon baseball team (19-30, 10-19 CAA) was upended in their penultimate home game by the College of Charleston (24-25, 14-12 CAA) Saturday night. The Cougars jumped on the Phoenix early and did not look back in the 11-1, run-rule win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charleston struck first with three runs in the top of the third inning.
- The Cougars added three more runs in the top of the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.
- Charleston chased starter Tommy Mitchell with two more runs in the top of the fifth.
- Elon added their lone run of the game in the bottom of the sixth due to heads up baserunning from Henry Akopov.
- Charleston put the game away and cemented the run rule in the seventh.

- Cade Mustard put together his second consecutive scoreless outing with two innings of no-run ball.
- Henry Akopov finished 1-for-2 with a run scored in the loss.
- Gar Hindle broke up the no-hit bid in the fourth inning with a single up the middle.
