ELON – Elon men's basketball alumnus
Chandler Cuthrell has signed a professional contract with Kauhajoki Karhu Basket in Finland.
Â
Cuthrell will join Karhu Basket for the 2026-27 season and begin his professional career in Korisliiga, the highest level of basketball in Finland. Based in Kauhajoki, Karhu Basket is a three-time Finnish champion, most recently winning the Korisliiga title in 2022.
Â
Cuthrell produced one of the most prolific offensive seasons in Elon history during his lone campaign with the Phoenix in 2025-26. The 6-foot-8 forward earned All-Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Second Team honors after averaging 19.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while starting all 32 contests. He also averaged 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 48.7% from the field.
Â
The Baltimore, Maryland, native scored 632 points, setting an Elon NCAA Division I single-season record and tying for the seventh-highest total in program history. Cuthrell also became the first Elon player in the program's Division I era to average more than 19 points per game in a season.
Â
Cuthrell made 191 free throws during the campaign, the third-most in program history and the most by a Phoenix in 62 seasons. His 191 makes and 262 attempts both established Elon Division I single-season records and ranked 18th and 12th nationally, respectively.
Â
Cuthrell recorded five double-doubles and scored 20 or more points 18 times. He posted career highs of 32 points and 10 rebounds at Hampton on Feb. 5, becoming the only CAA player to record at least 30 points and 10 rebounds in a game during the 2025-26 season. Cuthrell was also named CAA Player of the Week in November and earned a spot on the Lou Henson Award early-season watch list.
