CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Cornelia Kack and Iga Piotrowska advanced to the final of the Navy Doubles Draw on Friday as the Elon women's tennis team kicked off its fall campaign at the Kitty Harrison Invitational.

Kack and Piotrowska won a pair of main draw doubles contests, including a 6-4 second-round victory against Virginia's duo of Alyssa James and Blanca Pico Navarro, who were the top seed in the Navy Draw. The wins were the first two of Piotrowska's career as the freshman made her college debut Friday.

Elon added two more Power Four wins in doubles with newcomers Lisa Dierick and Sonja Rooth teaming up to defeat Lena Beuing and Marta Leon Jaume of Kansas State, 6-4, in the consolation Navy Draw. Lisa Kranec and freshman Alexandria Warsing then took down Duke in their first-round match in the White Draw, coming through 11-9 in a tiebreak against Eleana Yu and Claire An of the Blue Devils. 

The Phoenix picked up one more doubles victory on the day, with Simone Bergeron and Mariana Reding adding a 6-4 consolation win in the Blue Draw against Andrea Chacon and Shona Nakano of Charlotte.

Rooth added a singles victory to finish with two wins in her first day of competition as a Phoenix. The junior topped Beuing of Kansas State, 6-1, 7-6 (1), in the main Ram Draw.
