CARY, N.C. – Seniors Simone Bergeron and Mariana Reding upset the top seed in the prequalifying doubles draw Saturday at the ITA All-American Championships. The tournament is being contested at the Cary Tennis Park.

Bergeon and Reding knocked off the ITA's No. 88 ranked duo of Tess Bucher and Alice Xu in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5, to advance in the prequalifying doubles draw. It marked Elon's second victory this fall over an ITA ranked doubles team.

The Phoenix duo will face the prequalifying draw's No. 9 seeded pair of Addison Yang Comiskey and Elena Mireles from SMU tomorrow in the prequalifying draw. The contest is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Cornelia Kack and Lisa Kranec earned entry into the prequalifying draw Saturday afternoon as alternates. They forced LSU's Tegan Bush and Ni Xi, the No. 7 seeded pair in the prequalifying draw, to a second-set tiebreak but ultimately fell short in the match. They will also return Sunday for a consolation draw match.

Kack opened the day for Elon in singles, falling 6-2, 7-5 against Tulsa's Prisca Abbas. Kack will take on Harvard's Anna Tabunshchyk at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday in the consolation singles draw.
