ASHEBORO – The Elon women's golf team opened play at the Tot Hill Farm Invitational on Monday, posting a 12-over-par 300 in the first round at Tot Hill Farm Golf Club. The Phoenix completed its second round Monday with another 12-over 300, but play across the field was suspended due to darkness before all teams finished. Team and individual standings will not be finalized until the second round is completed Tuesday morning.
ROUND 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- Lilli Downer paced the Phoenix in the opening round with an even-par 72. Starting on No. 10, Downer played her first nine holes in 1-under 34 before coming home in 1-over 38. She recorded birdies on the par-3 13th and third holes.
- Emma Hanson followed with a 3-over 75. Hanson made seven birdies in the round, including four over her final four holes from Nos. 6-9. She played her final nine in 1-under 36 after making the turn at 4-over 39.
- Kelly Zhao carded a 4-over 76 for Elon's third counting score. Zhao posted a 2-over 37 over her opening nine holes and matched that at 2-over 39 over Nos. 1-9. Her round included a birdie on the par-3 15th.
- Haley Paramore supplied the Phoenix's final counting score with a 5-over 77. After opening with a 5-over 40 on Nos. 10-18, Paramore played her final nine holes at even-par 37. She made three consecutive birdies on Nos. 6-8.
- Garland Gould rounded out the Elon lineup with a 7-over 79. Gould recorded birdies on Nos. 6 and 8 and played her final nine holes in 2-over 39.
