ELON COLLEGE, NC -- Brendon Rowell scored 25 points, and Elon College overcame a six-point deficit with under three minutes to play, as the Fightin' Christians edged Coastal Carolina, 85-82, in men's college basketball action on Monday night.

Elon (9-12), which won its fourth straight game, trailed 77-71 with 2:55 remaining after Coastal Carolina's Larry Roberts scored on a layup. But Rowell scored five points for Elon in a nine second-span, hitting three free throws and scoring on a layup to pull the Fightin' Christians within 77-76 with 2:25 left. Joey Schwetz hit a three-point jumper with 1:55 to play to make it 79-77 Elon.

Coastal Carolina (4-15) pulled within 83-82 on a Roberts three-point play with 10 seconds remaining, but Elon's Dennis Gaskins made two free throws with :04 seconds left to give the Fightin' Christians an 85-82 lead. Coastal's Shane Wright then missed a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Morgan Bell added 16 points for Elon, while Schwetz and Andrew Toole each had 10 for the Fightin' Christians.

Steve Miles and Marcus Stewart each scored 18 points for the Chanticleers, while Roberts scored 14.
