ROCK HILL, SC -- Teresa Schmitz drove in the tying run and Kristen Kendrick scored the game-winner as the Elon College softball team defeated the College of Charleston, 2-1 to gain a split on the afternoon on the second day of the Ringor/Winthrop Invitational Tournament Saturday. The Fightin' Christians (7-9) lost to Tennessee Tech (14-7) earlier, 5-1.
Elon rallied from a 1-0 deficit in the fourth inning when Schmitz singled home Kelly Lloyd, while Kendrick crossed the plate on the same play on a Cougar error to give the Fightin' Christians the lead.
Freshman southpaw Shawne Browne went the distance to improve her record to 2-1, while Lloyd and Kendrick tallied two hits each.
