Elon Holds Off Liberty to Complete Sweep

ELON COLLEGE, NC -- Clint Walker scored a career-high 24 points as Elon held off a furious rally to defeat Liberty, 83-78, at the Koury Center on Wednesday night. The victory gave the Fightin' Christians its first two-game series sweep in official Big South Conference action.

Elon (12-15, 6-7 Big South) established an 81-71 advantage on a jumper by Walker with 1:57 remaining. The Flames (14-12, 4-9) reeled off seven unanswered points to pull within 81-78 and missed a chance to tie the contest when Beau Wallace's three-point field goal attempt bounced off the rim with 23 seconds left.

Walker's two free throws with seven ticks left sealed the victory as the Fightin' Christians improved to 10-2 on their home floor for the season. Walker was joined by teammates Andrew Toole (15 points), Morgan Bell (14) and Brendon Rowell (13) in double-digit scoring. Liberty was led by Maurice Watkins (20 points) and Carl Williams (17 points).

Elon will close out its first official NCAA Division I campaign when it hosts High Point in a 7 p.m. matchup for its Senior Day game on Saturday.
