INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America national convention honored the 1999-2000 Elon women's soccer team for their academic achievements. This is the third straight season that Elon has been awarded this College Team Academic Award. Elon has been awarded this honor every season since becoming a Division I member.

This honor is awarded to teams that had a cumulative GPA of over 3.0. The then-Fightin' Christians' GPA was 3.11. The award was presented to the 1999-2000 squad because the award honors academic prowess for the academic year, not the athletic year.

The 1999-2000 squad also won the Big South Conference Tournament and earned Elon's first-ever trip to a Division I National Tournament. This year's team won the conference regular season, but lost to Liberty in the conference tournament finals.
