ELON, NC -- Freshman goaltender Kara Zagol snagged nine saves en route to her fifth shutout victory of the season as Elon scared up a 2-0 non-conference win against Gardner-Webb on Halloween Wednesday afternoon at Rudd Field.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (11-6-1), who had outscored their opponents 22-1 in their previous four games, out-shot the Phoenix 16-9, including 8-3 in the second frame. Gardner-Webb fired nine shots on goal to Elon's seven.

The Phoenix (7-8), who won for the seventh time in 11 games since an 0-4 start, received first-half goals from Kate Schabo and Mackenzie Sisson via assists from Kristen Wizzard and Natalie Sampson. The Schabo/Wizzard score occurred in the contest's 17th minute while the Sisson/Sampson one was registered in the 23rd.

Gardner-Webb, which dropped to 0-9 all-time vs. Elon, received six shots from Elizabeth Kier and five saves from goalie Hilary George.
