Bennett, Roselle Sign For Baseball

ELON, NC -- Elon University baseball coach Mike Kennedy announced the signings of Paul Bennett, IV (Charlotte, NC/Charlotte Christian School) and Ernest Roselle (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett HS) to national letters of intent on Tuesday.

Bennett, a 5'10" infielder, earned All-Conference, All-State and the Charlotte Observer's All-Mecklenberg County honors in both his sophomore and junior seasons. Bennett helped to lead Greg Simmons' Charlotte Christian School to a 29-3 record in 2000 and a NCISAA State Championship and a 22-11 mark in 2001 when they advanced to the NCISAA semi-finals. Paul is the son of Paul C. Bennett, III and Paige Bennett.

Roselle, a 6'1" outfielder/first baseman, captained Joe Oleykowski's Kennett team in both his junior and senior seasons. A four-year starter, Roselle led his high school team in hitting in his freshman and junior campaigns. Rated as the ninth-best high school player in the state of Pennsylvania by Baseball America, Roselle has earned All-State, All-County and All-League honors. Roselle was selected to play for Team Pennsylvania at the Blue-Grey Tournament at Wake Forest where he earned First Team All-Tournament honors. He helped to leadd his 2001 American Legion team to a Chester County championship, a regional championship and a sixth place finish in the state tournament. Roselle hit .375 with 30 runs scored, five homers and 30 RBI for his 2001 Legion team. Ernest, a National Honor Society member, also ran track for Kennett and is the son of Robert and Deborah Roselle.
