ELON, NC -- Elon University baseball coach Mike Kennedy announced the signing of Lance Cole (Asheboro, NC/Asheboro HS) to a national letter of intent on Tuesday afternoon.

Cole, a 6'2" pitcher, helped to lead Jerry Walser's Asheboro team to a regular season and tournament championship in the Tri-County Conference last season. Cole threw a no-hitter to clinch the regular season title last year. In his junior campaign, Cole struck out 87 hitters in 53 innings of work and compiled a 2.49 ERA. At the plate he hit .394. Cole was a member of the Region 5 team at the 2001 State Games and was a unanimous selection to the Tri-County All-Conference Team after his junior year. His 2001 American Legion squad won the Area III championship and finished fourth in the American Legion State Tournament. Lance is the son of Fred and Judy Cole.
