WALLACE, NC -- Elon made a sluggish return to golf after its Spring Break layoff, logging an uncharacteristic two-round 672 to open play at UNC Wilmington's Lady Seahawk Invitational at the River Landing Country Club on Monday.

The Phoenix followed up its first-round 335 with a 337 to end day one of the three-round, two-day tournament in 17th place out of 18 teams. The third (and final) round will be played Tuesday.

Defending Big South Conference champion Charleston Southern (314-301--615) leads the field entering the second day. Only Appalachian State (341-339--680) trails Elon.

Phoenix leader Laura Orlen (85-79--164) is tied for 50th in the 93-golfer field. Katie Knoepffler (T64th, 78-90--168), Angela Baskette (T72nd, 87-83--170), Beth Frace (T77th, 85-88--173) and Amy Johnson (T79th, 87-87--174) are all competing for Elon in the tournament.
