ELON, NC -- Elon baseball head coach Mike Kennedy announced the signing of Barry Tejeda (Miami, FL/Miami Killian Senior High) to a national letter of intent on Tuesday.

Tejeda, a 5'9" catcher who weighs 170 pounds, earned First Team All-County and First Team All-State honors following his senior season for coach Manny Fernandez's Miami Killian team. Tejeda hit .468 with 28 RBI his senior year. He earned team MVP honors after his junior season. Tejeda also led Miami Killian to the regional championship game in his junior season. His Florida Bombers team won a USABF National Championship with Tejeda behind the plate. Barry is the son of Joe and Marsha Tejeda.

Last season the Phoenix finished 30-27 overall and compiled a 12-9 Big South mark. Elon scored victories over then-#19 East Carolina, Winthrop, Duke and Maryland. The Phoenix also took on nationally ranked Georgia Tech, Miami and South Carolina.
