ELON, NC -- Elon baseball head coach Mike Kennedy announced the transfer of pitcher Tyson Blocker (Roswell, GA) from Appalachian State University on Friday.

Blocker, 6'2", compiled a 4-7 record and 5.55 ERA in 17 appearances with the Mountaineers last season. This summer Blocker saw action with the Thomasville Hi-Toms of the Coastal Plain League where he went 5-1 with a 1.79 ERA and threw one no-hitter. He also earned Coastal Plain Pitcher of the Week. At Roswell High School, Blocker earned All-County honors as a shortstop and pitcher his junior and senior seasons.

Last season the Phoenix finished 30-27 overall and compiled a 12-9 Big South mark. Elon scored victories over then-#19 East Carolina, Winthrop, Duke and Maryland. The Phoenix also took on nationally ranked Georgia Tech, Miami and South Carolina.
