Elon Travels To Gardner-Webb

Phoenix Finishes Four Game Road Trip In Boiling Springs

ELON –The Elon baseball team (13-18, 5-10 CAA) will look to build off a weekend series win on Tuesday as it heads to Gardner-Webb (15-17, 5-7 Big South) for a midweek contest.
 
Elon and Gardner-Webb will meet for the first time since 2023 on Tuesday. Both teams enter the matchup after winning a conference, weekend series.
 
Tuesday's game will be streamed on ESPN+.

  • Tuesday: LHP Cole Miller (0-2, 4.02 ERA) vs. RHP Anthony Hausner (1-1, 7.71 ERA)
 
SERIES HIGHLIGHTS
  • Elon leads the all-time series, 39-20.
  • The Phoenix and Runnin' Bulldogs last met in 2023. The two split the season series with the home team winning each game.
  • In Elon's last game in Boiling Springs, the Phoenix beat Gardner-Webb, 7-5. In the win, former Elon third baseman and current Minnesota Twins minor leaguer Ryan Sprock hit his first of 30 career home runs.

  • Senior Jackson Alford has continued his All-CAA form from 2025, leading the Phoenix in multiple offensive categories through 31 games. Alford, who is 25 of 29 in stolen bases, is the first Phoenix since Tyler Stanley (2019) to steal 20 or more bases in a season.
  • Outfielder Brian DuRoff had one of his best stretches as a Phoenix last week. DuRoff hit .375 (6-for-16) with an on-base percentage of .545 over his last four games.
  • Cole Miller continues to find form as Elon's midweek starter. Against Queens, he threw a career high five innings, struck out three and walked none.
  • Gar Hindle had his best week as a Phoenix over the last four games. Hindle hit .412 (7-for-17) over the last four games and drove in a team-high eight runs.
  • Following a 25-32 (13-14 CAA) season in 2025, Elon was picked in a tie for fourth in the 2026 CAA preseason poll.
  • Head coach Mike Kennedy is in his 30th season at the helm of Elon Baseball. After earning 25 wins last season, Kennedy has led the Phoenix to 24 seasons of 25 wins or more. Kennedy is a 2025-26 Elon Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
