Late Goal Lifts UNCW Past Elon

WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Jennifer Cauble broke through the left side of the Elon defense and netted a shot from 15-yards at the 85:54 mark to lift UNC Wilmington to a 1-0 victory over the Phoenix in women's soccer action on Wednesday night. The win improved the Seahawks to 2-0-0 while Elon fell to 1-2-0 on the season.

Elon's Kara Zagol was stellar in net, making 12 saves while going the distance. Tiffany Langford needed to make only two saves to earn the shutout for UNCW.

UNCW held a commanding 18-2 edge in shots and a 13-1 advantage in corner kicks on the night.

The Phoenix will make its first appearance at home on Sunday afternoon when North Carolina State visits Rudd Field. Gametime is set for 2:00 p.m. UNC Wilmington will host St. Francis (Pa.) Friday at 7:00 p.m.
