ELON, N.C. – Elon University Athletics and Verizon Wireless have teamed up to name a Verizon Wireless “Performer of the Month” each month. The recipient of this award for March is senior
Morgan Olds (Stamford, Conn./Stamford) of the Phoenix women’s golf team.
During the past month, Olds fired a 75.7 average for six rounds in three tournaments and earned Southern Conference Player of the Week honors twice. She finished among the top 10 golfers all three times and in the top five twice.
Olds carded a one-round 79 to end up tied for sixth place out of 57 players at the rain-shortened Bethune-Cookman Invitational as Elon claimed the team title in the 11-team field. She shot a three-round 224 (73-77-74) to claim medalist honors in the 72-player field at Winthrop's Shamrock Intercollegiate while the Phoenix captured the team crown at the 14-squad tournament. At last weekend’s William & Mary Invitational, Olds turned in a two-round 151 (76-75) to place fourth out of 84 golfers as Elon finished fourth out of 16 teams.
On behalf of Morgan Olds, Verizon Wireless will donate $250 to the Elon Athletics Foundation general scholarship fund.
