CHARLESTON, S.C. – Carolina Bentley, Lauren Osborne and Bonnie Baird all claimed singles wins as top-seeded Furman eliminated eighth-seeded Elon 4-0 in second-round action of 2005 Southern Conference Women's Tennis Championship Friday morning at the Earle Tennis Center on The Citadel campus.

Bentley beat Kelly Fleck 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2, Osborne defeated Molly Cade 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 and Baird blanked Diana Pulupa 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6. None of the other singles flights were finished.

The Paladins (20-3) opened the match by claiming the doubles point from the Phoenix (9-12), capturing victories at No. 1 (Bentley and Mary Neill Hagood over Fleck and Evin Prelec 8-2) and No. 3 (Shannon Moore and Lisa Bornt-Davis over Pulupa and Alli Benton 8-0).
