ELON, N.C. - Elon University Athletics and Verizon Wireless have teamed up to name a Verizon Wireless “Performer of the Month” each month. The recipient of this award for April is junior baseball player, Chris Price (Asheville, N.C.).

Over the past month, Price has helped lead the Phoenix to a 10-7 record (8-4 in the Southern Conference) that included a win over sixth-ranked North Carolina and a series sweep of SoCon rival UNC Greensboro. Price, an outfielder, batted .475 with 22 runs scored over 17 games. He also hit five doubles, two home runs and drove in 21 runs. One of his two homers was a game-winning grand slam at Georgia Southern. Price was issued 17 walks to go with his 28 hits for an on-base percentage of .588. He slugged .661 for the month and recorded a perfect fielding percentage.

On the season, Price leads Elon with a .388 batting average. He has scored 41 runs, drove in 36 and has been issued 38 walks on the season.

On behalf of Chris Price, Verizon Wireless will donate $250 to the Elon Athletics Foundation general scholarship fund.
