RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Elon women's tennis team had a strong showing in the 2005 Residence Inn North Wolfpack Invitational held this weekend at North Carolina State's J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

Elon's Jennifer Tucci and Whitney Butcher teamed up to claim the consolation title in the A2 doubles flight by knocking off the team of Khoor and Donner from James Madison by an 8-3 score.

In A1 doubles action, the duo of Kelly Fleck and Evin Prelec defeated Auburn's Gray and Pljusznyin by an 8-4 score before falling 8-5 to the top-seeded team of Leskosky and Ivanov from Georgia.

Tucci advanced to the winner's bracket finals of the A3 singles bracket, defeating UNC Greensboro's Miles (6-3, 6-1) and Wofford's Wetzig (6-3, 6-3). In the finals, Tucci fell 6-2, 6-1 to NC Stat's Arechavaleta who was seeded second in the bracket.

The women's tennis squad will play again this weekend at the Hokie Fall Invite beginning on Friday in Blacksburg, Va.
