Elon enters the game with a record of 1-4 after falling to Virginia Commonwealth 91-49 on Tuesday night. It was Elon’s first loss at home in the 2006 calender year. Elon was without its leading scorer in senior guard LeVonn Jordan who sat out due to lingering symptoms from a concussion.
Freshman guard Devan Carter led the Phoenix with a career-high 19 points and five rebounds in a career-best 37 minutes. Sophomore guard Brett James added six points while freshmen forwards Adam Constantine and TJ Douglas each posted five points. The Phoenix shot just 33.3 percent from the floor and 26.3 percent from three-point range.
Davidson is coming off a 75-47 loss to 9th-ranked Duke on Saturday. Jason Richards led the Wildcats with 17 points while Andrew Lovedale added nine points along with 10 rebounds. Davidson shot 28.6 percent from the floor and 15.8 percent from long range.
The Wildcats post a record of 4-2 coming into tonight’s match up. Davidson opened the season at the John Thompson Foundation Challenge, picking up wins over Eastern Michigan and Central Connecticut State while falling to Michigan State. Davidson also has wins of Illinois-Chicago and Colby along with a loss to Missouri.
These teams are meeting for the 36th time tonight with Davidson holding a 24-11 series lead.
