North Carolina sits atop the national list, but the Phoenix ranks ahead of Memphis, Binghamton, Cincinnati, UC Riverside, UNLV and Old Dominion. Regionally, the Tar Heels top that list as well, Elon's class rates better than UNC Wilmington, Alabama, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern, Florida Atlantic, East Carolina, Birmingham-Southern, Western Carolina, Campbell and Davidson.
In it's write up of the Southern Conference, the website states, "For just the second time, three conference teams rank among the nation's Top 100 in recruiting. UNC Greensboro is rolling and Furman is still bringing up some of the top talent each year. Charleston is ranked among the region's best for the fourth straight year and Elon brought in its best class ever."
This year's incoming class includes Lauren Wisniewski (GK - Fairless Hills, Pa.), Maisie Leach (MF - Salem, Va.), Laura Norwind (D/MF - Darnestown, Pa.), Molly Calpin (F - Alpharetta, Ga.), Julie McGowan (MF Camp Hill, Pa.), Morgan Wallace (MF - Edwards, Colo.), Tricia Serdy (MF - Upper St. Clair, Pa.), Meagan Aho (D/MF - Matthews, N.C.), Jessica Weaver (F - West Chester, Pa.), Lauren Griffith (MF/F - Atlanta, Ga.), Katina Boozer (D/MF - Charlottesville, Va.) and Alix Heinicke (D/MF/F - Bay Village, Ohio).
The Phoenix kicks off its 2006 season on August 25 at 4:30 p.m. against Campbell at Rudd Field.
