Soccer Buzz Rates Women's Soccer Class Second in SoCon

NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Soccer Buzz, an on-line women's soccer magazine which can be viewed at soccerbuzz.com, has rated the incoming Elon women's soccer class as the second-best in the Southern Conference and the 20th-best class in the Southeast Region which is comprised of 54 teams.  Head coach Chris Webb has signed 11 players from eight different states to her incoming class.

According to the ratings, the Phoenix ranked only behind UNC Greensboro in the Southern Conference.  While talking about hte Southern Conference classes, the site states, "Elon is quietly making a move within the league from a recruiting standpoint.  The Phoenix has improved from fifth to third to now second in the last years in recruiting."

Regionally, Webb's class ranks 20th out of 54 teams.  Topping the list within the Southeast Region is Florida State.  The rest of the top-five are North Carolina, Duke, Georgia and Charlotte.  Elon ranks ahead of East Carolina and league members Western Carolina, Furman and Appalachian State.

This signing class consists of: Meghan Braun (Glenelg, Md.), Allison Coad (Alpharetta, Ga.), Megan Deutschle (Burlington, N.C.), Brittany Hallberg (Richmond, Va.), Taylor Harlan (Naples, Fla.), Amanda Jones (Roswell, Ga.), Maria Maturo (Stratford, Conn.), Elizabeth Payne (Virginia Beach, Va.), Lia Shuford (Birmingham, Ala.), Kyle Waggoner (Overland Park, Kan.) and Alanna Winsper (Virginia Beach, Va.).
