Freshman Krystal Paszkeicz set a seasonal best and new school record in the hammer throw, recording a distance of 34.24-meters.
Junior Cara Maschi notched a season best in the 400-meter run with a time of 63.18. Julie McGowan’s time of 1:09.67 in the 400-meter hurdles was also good for a season best time.
Meaghan Collins (5:09.20), Jenny Pearce (5:03.14), Katie White (4:54.85) and Emily Fournier (4:50.51) each turned in a season best performance in the 1500-meter run.
Rounding out Friday’s competition was Katelyn Ealer with a season best time of 38:36.46 in the 10,000-meter run.
Sophomore Jennine Strange in the 800-meter run highlighted Saturday’s events as she crossed the finish line with a conference-leading time of 2:14.69.
The season high performances from Friday’s action carried over to Saturday as the team saw six more student-athletes set season highs. Paszkeicz recorded a distance of 35.45 meters (126’2”) in the discus throw.
Catherine Rossi clocked a 18:57.82 in the 5,000-meter run. Pearce and Grace Ilevbare set their season highs in the 800-meter run with times of 2:26.95 and 2:20.06, respectively.
Fournier and Colleen McCarthy each set season bests in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing with times of 11:22.87 and 11:58.47.
Individuals were not the only ones having success as the 4x100-meter relay team consisting of Sarah Skogen, Lauren Hawkesworth, Veronica Day, and Monique Vines crossed the finish line with a season best time of 50.27. The 4x400-meter relay team, which includes Skogen, Strange, Andrea March, and Melissa Turowski, finished in a time of 4:00.31 to finish the competition for the Phoenix.
The team returns to action next Saturday, April 12 at the University of North Carolina for the UNC Tony Waldrop Track and Field Meet. Coverage of next week’s meet will be available at www.elonphoenix.com.
