RICHMOND, Va. – Elon junior
Katie Blount was named the Coastal Athletic Association Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday, following a record-breaking performance at the Raleigh Relays.
Blount captured the 10,000-meter title at the prestigious meet, clocking a school-record time of 33:31.63 to finish first in a field of 72 competitors.
Her mark not only broke the previous Elon record of 33:43.82, set in 2021, but also stands as the fastest time in the event by a CAA runner this season. The performance ranks as the 20th fastest in the nation this year and is the top 10,000-meter time by a CAA athlete since 2017.
Blount is the second Phoenix to collect a weekly honor from the CAA so far during the 2026 outdoor campaign, following
Jaqueline Zacharias, who earned the award on March 17.
