ELON, N.C. -- Elon men’s golf coach
Bill Morningstar has announced that three players have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Phoenix beginning with the 2010-11 season. Morningstar has inked Jack Adkins (Martinsville, Va./Carlisle School), Matt Brady (Rochester, Mich./The International Academy) and Blayze Di Pasquale (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock North).
Adkins will join the Phoenix program after helping Robert Weinerth’s Carlisle squad to capture four consecutive league titles from 2006-09 and two state tiles (2008, 2009). In 2009, Adkins was the runner-up at the Virginia State Golf Association Junior Match Play event. He has also twice been named to the Virginia State Junior team. Adkins claimed medalist honors at the Independence Golf Club High School Invitational in both 2007 and 2009.
Jack is the son of Jeff and Kim Adams.
In 2009, Brady was a medalist at the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MSHAA) state finals and an honorable mention all-state selection. Brady placed 11th at the 2009 American Junior Golf Association’s (AJGA) Preseason Junior in the Chicago Southland tournament and was the 2009 MHSAA regional finals runner-up. He has won four National Junior Golf Scholarship Association Tour (NJGSA) events. A 2009 All-Oakland Athletic Association and All-Oakland County first-team honoree, Brady won the 2008 NJGSA Sportsmanship Award. He has helped lead Rochester Adams to a 2009 MHSAA regional finals runner-up finish as well as a 2009 Oakland Athletic Association title.
Matt, a nine-year concert pianist, is the son of Steven and Judi Brady.
Di Pasquale has been the captain of Rich White’s Council Rock North team for four seasons and won the 2009 Philadelphia Junior PGA Championship qualifier. He also placed second at the 2009 Philadelphia PGA Tour Tournament of Champions. Di Pasquale claimed the 2009 title at the International Junior Golf Tour Architects event. This year he finished third at the AJGA’s Preseason at Rochester tournament and qualified for the Big I National Tournament. His prep team won the Suburban One League and District One titles in 2009 while placing third at the Eastern Pennsylvania State Tournament the same year.
Blayze is the son of John and Tammy Di Pasquale.
