CHAPEL HILL – Behind a standout individual performance from
Drew Yeagley, the Elon men's golf team concluded 36 holes of play at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate on Saturday in eighth place at 1-over par 561 (279-282) at Finley Golf Club.
Yeagley leads the Phoenix and sits third overall at 8-under par 132 (64-68), putting himself firmly in contention heading into the final round. The junior opened the tournament with a bogey-free, 6-under 64 to move into a share of the individual lead after 18 holes before following with a 2-under 68 in round two. He totaled nine birdies and an eagle across his two rounds on the day and trails only the Tar Heel duo of Grant Roscich (-11) and Niall Shells Donegan (-9).
Jack Wieler is tied for 38th at 2-over par 142 (71-71), turning in a pair of steady rounds.
Dylan Lewis is close behind in a tie for 45th at 3-over par 143 (72-71), shaving a stroke off his opening round in the afternoon.
Landon Durham posted one of the team's biggest improvements between rounds, bouncing back from a 76 in round one to shoot an even-par 72 in round two. He is tied for 72nd at 8-over par 148.
William Carr rounds out the lineup in a tie for 83rd at 12-over par 152 (72-80).
North Carolina's "A" team leads the field at 29-under par 531, followed by North Carolina's "B" team (-12), Duke (-10), Texas A&M (-9) and Nebraska (-3).
