Davis Picks Up National Honor

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Following a stellar performance last week, Elon infielder Bennett Davis (Katy, Texas) was chosen as one of 20 players on The College Baseball Foundation and Diamond Sports National All-Star Lineup for week eight.  It's the first such honor for a Phoenix player during the 2009 campaign.

Davis, who was also selected as the Southern Conference's Player of the Week, homered twice in the same inning in Elon’s 25-6 victory over College of Charleston on Saturday. The senior now has 27 career homers, tied for fifth in program history. He had at least two hits in all four of Elon’s games last week and helped the Phoenix to its first-ever series win over College of Charleston. In the series opener against CofC, the Katy, Texas, native tied career highs with four hits and five RBIs while his two walks in the nightcap also equaled a career-best.  Davis boasted an OBP of .700 and slugged 1.312 during Elon’s 3-1 week.  He hit .625 on the week.

The full list can be found HERE.

Davis and the Phoenix (21-12) will return to the diamond with a 7 p.m. game against North Carolina Central on Friday night from Latham Park.
