Men’s Basketball Continues Home Stand Against Lynchburg

ELON, N.C.
– The Elon men’s basketball team will look to string together back-to-back victories when it hosts Lynchburg College on Sunday, December 12 at 2 p.m. in Alumni Gym. The Phoenix is in the midst of a four-game home stretch and is coming off a 90-82 win over Gardner-Webb this past Tuesday. This is the first-ever meeting between Elon and Lynchburg.

FREE THROWS
• In the last three games, Drew Spradlin is averaging 21 ppg and shooting 57 percent from the field. He has been the leading scorer in two of those contests.
Drew Spradlin moved into 10th place on the school’s career three-point chart with 99.
Chris Long is third on Elon’s all-time career assists list with 373 helpers. He has been Elon’s assist leader in three of the last four contests.
Chris Long also moved up the career three-point list, tying for fifth place all-time with 130 treys.
• Elon had four players in double figures for the first time this year in the win over Gardner-Webb on Tuesday.
• The Phoenix ranks third in the Southern Conference in scoring offense, averaging 75.6 ppg. On the contrary, Elon ranks ninth in scoring defense, allowing 77.5 ppg.
• Elon’s four scholarship freshmen are all averaging double-figure minutes.
• Elon is third in the league in assists (14.8) and second in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.1).

LAST TIME OUT
• High-powered offenses were featured in Alumni Gym on Tuesday night as Elon got back in the win column with a 90-82 victory over Gardner-Webb. The win was the Phoenix’s second straight against the Bulldogs.
• Both teams shot above 50 percent — GWU knocked down 61.4 percent of its field goals and Elon connected on 54.5 percent.
Drew Spradlin had a game-high 23 points and sophomore Roger Dugas stole the show with a career-best 21 points and 10 boards.
• Elon had its best performance from the free throw line, drilling 18-of-21 (85.7 percent). The Phoenix is shooting 79.4 percent from the stripe in the last three games.
•Elon nailed 12 three-pointers — the Phoenix ranks second in the league with 9.3 triples per game.

THE HORNETS
• Lynchburg College, located in Lynchburg, Va., competes at the NCAA Division III level in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Elon is the lone Division I opponent for the Hornets this year.
• Lynchburg is coming off an 89-55 loss to Randolph Macon.
