WALLACE, N.C. -- After being one stroke back with a first round 301, the Elon Phoenix women's golf team shot a second round 315 to sit in a three-way tie for second place out of nine teams in the field at the UNCW Lady Seahawk Classic on Monday. Penn (300-305) leads the field by 11 strokes with a 605 following two rounds of play.
Tara McFadden led the Elon charge, posting a 74 over her first 18 holes before carding a 78 in her second round of play. Her total of 152 has McFadden in a tie for ninth out of 51 golfers.
Both
Diana Davis and
Lauren Lebak are tied for 14th after notching identical rounds of 75 and 80 for a two-round score of 155.
Kelsey Johnson is two strokes back of the pair, firing a 77-80--157 to sit in a tie for 19th.
Dani Mullin (83-77--160) was the final of Elon's five players. Mullin sits in a tie for 26th after a two-round score of 160 (83-77).
Shannon Prunty is competing as an individual and is tied for 34th after a score of 163 (83-80).
UNC Wilmington's Carmen Perez-Narbon shot a two-under 142 (69-73) to lead the field by four strokes over Penn's Catherine Elliott.
Elon, Jacksonville State and UNC Wilmington are all tied for second at 616. The trio leads UMKC (625) by nine strokes. Longwood (632), Appalachian State (635), Winthrop (644) and DePauw (665) round out the field.
The third and final round will be played on Tuesday.
