SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Elon University senior pitcher Lauren Taylor has been named the Southern Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced today, Feb. 21. The award marks Taylor’s first career conference accolade.

Taylor, a Lillington, N.C., native, went 2-0 last week in outings against Seton Hall and Dayton.  In Elon’s win over Dayton, the Phoenix pitcher tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing only six hits while striking out seven.  For the weekend, Taylor posted a 0.64 ERA in 11 innings, and improved her record to 4-0 on the year.

Taylor is the second Elon player to earn SoCon Player/Pitcher of the Week accolades, as teammate Emerald Graham picked up player of the week honors last week.

Elon returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 26, with a doubleheader at South Carolina. First pitch of game one is slated for 2 p.m. at Beckham Field.
