Women’s Tournament Bracket
ELON, N.C. – The No. 6 seed Elon women’s tennis team (11-10) will face the No. 11 seed Davidson Wildcats (5-18) in the first round of the Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament on Wednesday, April 20, at 10 a.m. in Chattanooga, Tenn. Elon earned the sixth seed in the conference tournament after compiling a 5-5 season record in league play.
The Phoenix won the regular-season meeting, 6-1, against the Wildcats on April 6 at The Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. It was the first-ever win for Elon over Davidson in 13 total matches.
The College of Charleston’s women’s team, which won last year’s tournament, finished the regular season a perfect 10-0 in conference play and hold the No. 1 seed. The UNCG Spartans earned the No. 2 seed, while Furman is third. Samford posted a 7-3 league mark and earned the No. 4 seed where the Bulldogs will face No. 5 Chattanooga on Thursday.
Joining the Phoenix in the first round is the Appalachian State Mountaineers who earned the No. 8 seed and will face No. 9 Wofford. The No. 7 Georgia Southern Eagles will take on No. 10 Western Carolina also on Wednesday.
If Elon defeats Davidson, the Phoenix will move on to play No. 3 seed Furman in the second round at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 21.
The four-day event (April 20-23), held at the Champions Club, features all 22 men’s and women’s teams from the conference. The women’s championship match is set for Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
