Softball Set For Fall Campaign

ELON, N.C. – The Elon softball program is ready to begin year two of the Kathy Bocock Era as the Phoenix prepares for its eight-game fall slate beginning with a doubleheader in Charlotte on Sunday, Sept. 30.

“We’re real excited about the fall season,” said Bocock. “We have put together a pretty good, competitive fall season for us.

“Fall is a good time to see what the kids are bringing to us from the summer. It tells us a little bit about where we want to be before going into a very competitive spring season.”

The Phoenix’s first game on Sept. 30 will start at 1 p.m. as the maroon and gold take on the University of South Carolina followed by a 3 p.m. game with host Charlotte.

Elon will then travel to Chapel Hill to take on North Carolina on Friday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. The Phoenix will finish its fall slate in the Ray Chandler Memorial Tournament, playing two games in Raleigh on Saturday, Oct. 13, and two the following day. More information on that tournament is listed below.

Bocock was officially named Elon’s head coach in May after being removed of the interim label she held all of last season. The Phoenix has to replace three seniors - Danielle Lafferty, Erin O'Shea and Kaitlyn Piazzolla - from last year’s squad, but returns outfielder and All-SoCon selection Tomeka Watson.
