View Schedule

ELON, N.C. –
Elon University head women's tennis coach Elizabeth Anderson announced her team's 2014 schedule today, Dec. 9, which is highlighted by an appearance in the prestigious ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament on Jan. 24-25 in Athens, Ga.

Elon ended last season with a 21-4 mark and a No. 66 national ranking by the ITA.

"After a very competitive fall, we are looking forward to a strong non-conference start of the spring season to prepare us for our competitive Southern Conference schedule," stated Anderson. "We're thrilled to participate in the ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament. It really shows how much our program has grown over the last several years and we're excited to compete on a national level with some of the finest teams in the country."

Following a pair of non-conference road matches at Virginia Tech (Jan. 18) and North Carolina (Jan. 22), the Phoenix heads to the campus of the University of Georgia for the ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament. Elon earned the fourth seed in the Athens pod and opens play on Jan. 24 versus host and top-seeded Georgia. A day later, the maroon and gold will face either second-seeded Arkansas or third-seeded Kansas State.

Elon is the only Southern Conference institution to earn an invitation to the ITA Kickoff Weekend tournament. A total of 60 teams will compete at 15 different sites. The 15 schools that win both of their matches at these events will be invited to play in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship at the Boar's Head Sports Club (hosted by the University of Virginia), Feb. 7-10, 2014.

Following the ITA Kickoff Weekend, Elon returns to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center for seven consecutive home matches, beginning with a non-conference doubleheader on Feb. 8 versus Norfolk State and North Carolina Central.

Elon hosts Campbell (Feb. 12), UNC Wilmington (Feb. 14), North Carolina A&T (Feb. 22) and Charlotte (Feb. 26) before it closes out its seven-match homestand on March 1 with its SoCon opener versus Georgia Southern.

On March 16, the maroon and gold looks for its second straight win over Wake Forest when it heads to Winston-Salem, N.C., to face the Demon Deacons. Elon defeated WFU, 4-3, last season for its first ever win over an ACC opponent.

After taking on Wake, the Phoenix returns home for a pair of SoCon matches against Furman (March 21) and Wofford (March 22).

Four road league matches follow Elon's match against Wofford, as Elon looks for wins at Appalachian State (April 1), Samford (April 5), Chattanooga (April 6) and UNCG (April 10).

Elon closes out the regular season at home on April 12 against Western Carolina. The team will celebrate Senior Day and the final home match for seniors Jordan Johnston, Frida Jansaker, Bryn Khoury and Viviana Stavreva.

The 2014 Southern Conference Women's Tennis Championship is scheduled for April 16-19 in Chattanooga, Tenn., on the campus of UTC. Elon earned the No. 2 seed in last year's SoCon Tournament, falling to top-seeded College of Charleston in the finals.
