Phoenix Women Conclude Day One Action at UNCG Starmount Fall Classic

Rounds 1-2

GREENSBORO, N.C. --
Through two rounds of the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic, the Elon women's golf program sits in a tie for ninth thanks to rounds of 307 and 298 on Monday.

Leading the way for the Phoenix on day one was Sunna Vidisdottir. Vidisdottir fired a first-round 71, even par, before carding a 76 over her final 18 holes of the day.  Her 147 has her tied for 12th out of the 84 golfers in the field.  Vidisdottir notched six birdies, tied for the ninth-most in the tournament, over her first 36 holes of the tournament.

Kelsey Badmaev is three strokes back and tied for 25th (78-72--150).  She had three birdies on the day.  Badmaev's 25 pars are tied for the fifth-most in the tournament.

In a tie for 44th is Emily Brooks who shot two rounds of 77 to finish at 154.  She posted two birdies.

Kathryn Buckingham's 157 has her in a tie for 56th following two rounds of action.  After posting an 84 over her first 18 holes, Buckingham rebounded with a 73 in round two.  She was one of seven players to tally an eagle on the day as she carded a two on the par-four 16th hole in her second round.  Buckingham also added four birdies.

Rounding out Elon's five-person contingent was Katie Partridge who will begin Tuesday's final round in a tie for 62nd after she posted a two-round mark of 159 (81-78).  She had four birdies.

Playing as an individual, Taylor Wilkerson posted four birdies on her way to a score of 154 (80-74) on the day.  She is tied for 44th.

The individual lead is held by High Point's Sarah Bae after two rounds.  Bae put up back-to-back rounds of 70 and holds a one-stroke lead over a pair of players.

Chattanooga leads the 15-team field thanks to two rounds of 289.  The Lady Mocs' 578 is 10 strokes better than second-place Campbell's score.

Rounding out the top five are Maryland (590), High Point (595) and James Madison (596).

The Phoenix is tied with Stetson for ninth with a 605.  Elon leads Richmond (614), host UNCG (615), Charleston Southern (618), Gardner-Webb (618) and North Florida (623).

The final round of the tournament will be held at the Starmount Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. on Tuesday.  Elon golfers are set to tee off at 9:00 a.m.
