ELON, N.C. – With the 2014-15 season officially underway for the Elon University men's basketball team, Elon Phoenix Weekly recently sat down with head coach Matt Matheny and his staff for a "Get to Know' segment on the five staff members who lead the Phoenix program.
 
Matheny enters his sixth season as the head men's basketball coach at Elon after spending the previous 16 years at Davidson College and helping the Wildcats to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances.
 
Assistant coach Jack Wooten has been a member of Matheny's staff for all six seasons, while assistant coach and former Phoenix forward Monty Sanders enters his fifth season at Elon. Former Elon point guard Chris Long is in his second season at his alma mater after serving as the team's director of operations last season. J.B. Tanner is in his first season with the Elon program and serves as the Phoenix's director of basketball operations.
 
Elon returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 22, at Northwestern as part of the Cancun Challenge. Tip is set for 4 p.m. in Evanston, Ill.
