Seven Innings With Madison Kadlic

With the start of the 2015 season for the Elon University softball team less than a month away, get a chance to learn more about each member of the team with a preseason series called "Seven Innings" as every student-athlete answers seven questions that makes them unique.

Elon is only one week away from its opening weekend versus USC Upstate and Radford at Hunt Softball Park. It will also be the Phoenix debut of freshman Madison Kadlic, who is featured in today's installment. A infielder from Powell, Ohio, Kadlic arrives after a prep career at Olentangy High School where she helped the Patriots to a pair of Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) championships in 2012 and 2013. She earned first team All-OCC honors as a junior and was also named the team's MVP.
1. How did you get into softball and how old were you at the time?
"I was very active in sports when I was younger and thought I would try softball. I started playing when I was seven and it stuck with me ever since."

2. Talk about your first semester as a collegiate softball player at Elon?
"Even though I couldn't walk the first week because I was so sore… it has been such a fun experience and I have already learned so much. It has made me even more excited for what still has to come!"

3. What has been the biggest adjustment from high school to college so far?
"The biggest adjustment for me was definitely my study habits. My high school prepared me very well, but I never actually had to study for tests which was a huge change coming to college."

4. What was the biggest takeaway you had from playing fall ball?
"My biggest takeaway from fall season was being able to see all of our hard work pay off and seeing us work as a team. Fall season showed me that we can play with anyone."

5. Do you have any pregame routines or superstitions before or during the game?
"If I get into a hitting slump or am not hitting as well as I want I will stop wearing my batting gloves and once I get into another slump, I will switch back to wearing them."

6. What are you looking forward to the most this season?
"I have played softball for almost my whole life and had always wanted to play in college, so I just can't wait for it all to start!"

7. Why did you choose your number?
"I chose number seven because I had been number ten my whole life and number seven was the closest to it."
