Final Results
AIKEN, S.C. – The Elon University men's golf team finished up play today with the final round of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invite. Elon finished 18th, two strokes behind both Western Carolina and Loyola University-Maryland, with a final stroke count of 878 (293-292-293).
Jake Leavitt finished atop the Elon leaderboard after the final round shooting a six-over par 216 (73-69-74), good for 42nd out of 90 players. Leavitt tallied 11 birdies in the competition. Jonathon Dilanni also finished at six-over par 216 (71-72-73) and registered 10 birdies and one eagle for the Phoenix.
Charlie May finished six strokes behind Leavitt and Dilanni with a 222 (75-74-73), notching 10 birdies in total. Will Dilanni finished three strokes behind May at 225 (74-78-73) putting in six birdies and one eagle.
Eighth-ranked South Carolina took the win in the tournament shooting 825 (270-276-279). The Gamecocks continued to hold a one-stroke lead over Clemson, who finished with a stroke count of 826 (282-265-279).
South Carolina's Will Starke topped the leaderboard for individual play, finishing nine under par at 201 (65-69-67). Scott Wolfes of Georgia Southern finished eight under par at 202(67-65-70), tying Clemson's Cody Proveaux (71-63-68).
Elon's next competition is March 22 in Durham, N.C., for the Blue Devil Invitational.
