RICHMOND, Va. – Elon freshman
William Carr has been named the Coastal Athletic Association Co-Men's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Carr earned the honor after claiming individual medalist honors at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate last weekend, leading a 92-player field with a three-round score of 8-under par 208 (72-71-65). His performance helped propel Elon to a share of the team title, as the Phoenix finished tied for first in the 14-team field at 9-under par 855.
The freshman closed the tournament in dominant fashion, firing a bogey-free 7-under par 65 in the final round. Carr secured the individual title with a birdie on the par-5 18th hole, breaking a tie with Campbell's Joachim Larsen Tegner, who finished at 7-under.
Carr shared the honor with UNCW's Gray Mitchum, who picked up a co-medalist honor at the UNCW Seahawk Intercollegiate.
This marks Carr's second weekly honor from the CAA this season after previously being named Co-Golfer of the Week on Oct. 8.
