ELON, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team reeled off its fourth-straight win following a 4-3 decision over the James Madison Dukes on Saturday, March 21, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. Elon has won eight of its last nine and improves to 9-5 on the year with the victory. JMU falls to 8-4 with the setback.

"I'm really proud of the way we competed as a team today," said Elon head coach
Elizabeth Anderson. "We fought and battled on every court after a tough start, and as a result, we were able to come away with the win."

Elon fell behind, 1-0, after dropping the doubles point, but ran off four-straight wins in singles play to take the win. Rookie
Kirsten Ward clinched the fourth and final point for the Phoenix, topping JMU's Rachel Nelson in three sets (4-6, 6-0, 6-1).

Barbora Lazarova knotted the match at 1-all at No. 3 singles, after the senior claimed an impressive 6-1, 6-2, win over James Madison's Alex Huie. Minutes later,
Olivia Lucas gave Elon a 2-1 lead following a 6-1, 6-2, decision at No. 1 singles over Taylor Pinchoff.

Erica Braschi gave the Phoenix a 3-1 lead at No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-2, result against James Madison's Dylan Owens, setting up Ward to clinch the match.

Elon returns to action in Hilton Head, S.C., for three matches on Monday and Tuesday.
