ELON, N.C.- The Elon University women's tennis team earned a 6-1 win over North Carolina Central today, April 11 at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. Elon ends the regular season with a 13-8 overall record and an 8-2 mark at home.

After honoring
Barbora Lazarova and
Maria Camara Ruiz on Senior Day, the Phoenix took the court capturing the first point in doubles play against the Eagles with courts No. 1 and 3 coming out with wins for Elon.

No. 3 doubles saw
Erica Braschi and
Taylor Casey defeat Tamara Jeremic and Lauren Mullis, 8-1. On No. 1 doubles, Lazarova and Kristen Ward won the point with an 8-2 win over Ekaterina Nekrasova and Rebecca Wood.

The match went onto singles play where the Phoenix showed wins on court Nos. 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Casey took the first point with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Lynsey Cover on No 4 singles. On court No. 6, Bridget Lidell toppled Mullis with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Kamilla Beisenova gave up two points with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jeremic on court No. 5 singles.

Lazarova ended her last regular-season match with a 6-3, 6-0 decision over Wood in No. 2 singles. Braschi followed with a 6-1, 6-2 mark over Nakrasova in No. 3 singles. With Braschi's win, the final score was 6-1.

Up next: Elon heads into their first Colonial Athletic Association Championship this Thursday April 14. The tournament will be in Williamsburg, Va., hosted by William & Mary.

How it happened: Elon only fell in two matches, capturing the doubles point and finishing off the day with six singles matches going the team's way.

Notes: Braschi and Casey have won seven straight doubles matches and are 10-1 in their last 11...Elon has won all six of their matchups against NCCU... Lazarova is on a three-match winning streak, also winning her past five of seven matches.
