ELON. N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team returns to action today, April 7, at
2:30 p.m. against the Davidson Wildcats. Due to forecasted rain, the match has been moved from the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center to the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center in Greensboro, N.C.
LOOKING BACK: Elon fell in its last match, with a 4-3 loss to the Charlotte 49ers. That was Elon's first loss since
March 7, as the team has won 11 of its last 13 matches.
STRONG PLAY: The duo of
Erica Braschi and
Taylor Casey continue their phenomenal play with a win in doubles over Charlotte's Tyler Baker and Macy Vonderschmidt 8-7 (12-10). They improved their record to 10-1 on the year. Freshmen
Olivia Lucas came out with a win in singles over Charlotte's Victoria Pahlett, bringing her record to an impressive 10-5 with five straight wins and victorious in eight of her last 10.
LOOKING AHEAD: The Phoenix stays at home for its final two regular season matches. Elon faces College of Charleston this
Friday, April 10, at
2:30 p.m., then they come back on
Saturday, April 11, at
12 p.m. to go against North Carolina Central. Elon's match against NCCU is Senior Day and the final home match for
Barbora Lazarova and
Maria Camara Ruiz.
CAA CHAMPIONSHIP: The Colonial Athletic Association Women's TennisChampionship tournament takes place next
Thursday, April 16, and goes to
Sunday, April 19. The matches will take place in Williamsburg, Va., on the campus of William & Mary.
