GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team bounced back from its first loss in nearly a month with a commanding 6-1 victory over the Davidson Wildcats on Tuesday, April 7, at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Center in Greensboro, N.C. The match was moved indoors due to forecasted rain this afternoon.

Elon improves to 13-6 with the win, its 11th victory in its last 13 matches. Davidson drops to 10-8 with the setback.

Elon started off with strong in doubles play, as
Barbora Lazarova and
Kirsten Ward defeated Elaina Cummer and Jenna Brunner, 8-3, on court one. Davidson came back with a win in No. 2 doubles where
Bridget Liddell and
Olivia Lucas fell to Anna Feaster and Ally Sexton, 8-4. But
Taylor Casey and
Erica Braschi continued their dynamic play and captured the doubles point for Elon with a win over Sarah Stein and Ava Todd, 8-4, on court three.

The dominant play continued for Elon with wins from the top five in play. Lucas defeated Feaster 6-4, 6-3 in No. 1 singles. Ward took down Cummer with a strong 6-1, 6-1 win on court No. 2.

At No. 3 singles, Lazarova bounced back from a 6-2 loss in the first set to beat Todd in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-5) in the second set before claiming a 10-3 victory in the super-tiebreaker in the third set.

Braschi came out with a win over Brunner, 6-2,6-0, at court four to keep Elon's momentum going.
Taylor Casey defeated Stein 4-6, 7-5, 10-6, on court five to improve to 10-4 on the year in singles.

The Phoenix remains at home with a match against College of Charleston this Friday, April 10, at 2:30 p.m. A day later, the Phoenix hosts North Carolina Central at 12 p.m. for Senior Day.
