Series History
Elon and Charleston Southern have met six times and both teams have split the series 3-3 at this point. This will be the first matchup between the Phoenix and the Bucs since 2002. Charleston Southern defeated Elon 1-0 on Oct. 14, 2002 in Elon, N.C.

Davidson and Elon have more of a history against each other, as this will be the 23rd all-time meeting between the two sides. The Wildcats hold the edge with a 13-8-1 all-time record, but the Phoenix are 3-1-1 in the last five matchups. Elon defeated Davidson 3-1 on Nov. 3, 2013 in the Southern Conference tournament quarterfinals. Nicole Dennion has scored three times against Davidson in her career.

About the Phoenix
Entering his eighth season at the helm and second in the Colonial Athletic Association, head coach Chris Neal and Elon returns 22 players and seven starters from a team that experienced their first season in the CAA last season. Neal also added 10 new freshmen to the fold in his 2015 recruiting class. The Phoenix finished 5-12 overall last season.

A total of 13 returning players have at least 10 games of action of CAA soccer from last season. 2014 CAA All-Freshman Team member, sophomore forward Grace Bennett, returns after leading the team in scoring a year ago. Fellow sophomore and forward Sydney Schilling will be back with Bennett as she finished second in goals last season.

The Phoenix will have strong leadership as they have seven seniors for the upcoming season. Senior defender Mel Insley will look to lead the back line next season after starting 14 games last season.

Scouting Charleston Southern
The Bucs are also looking to bounce back after a 5-13-1 finish last season. Charleston Southern returns junior forward and Big South Honorable Mention Anna Sells who finished third in the Big South last year with 11 goals. The Bucs were picked to finish 10th in the preseason Big South Preseason Poll.

Scouting Davidson
The Wildcats finished the 2014 season 5-12-2 overall and finished 13th in the Atlantic 10 Conference last season. Davidson's key returner is senior midfielder Vicky Bruce who finished first on the team in assists and second in goals and points last season. The Wildcats will host Albany (N.Y.) on Friday before taking on the Phoenix on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Up Next
After their two matches this weekend, the Phoenix will travel to Raleigh, N.C. to take on ACC opponent NC State on Friday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. Elon will then wrap up the second weekend of the season with a road trip to Chattanooga on Sunday, Aug. 30. That match will kick off at 1 p.m.
